Congratulations to the Almost new aunt! I love your mushroommeadow line. Such cute items!

For the shower, you can get a few onesies and some items from a craft store (fabric markers, embellishments) and have friends at the shower decorate the onesies.

There are directions online so you can make one of those popular diaper cakes that everyone has now (it's with cloth diapers, baby bottles, baby socks and pins).

A fun game is to give everyone a pin and if anyone says the word baby, they lose their pin. The one who has their pin at the end of the shower wins.

Guess the date and time of the baby. A prize is sent to the person who is the closest.

I love when people give the mom a basket of baby books (Curious George, Cat in the Hat, Goodnight Moon).

Another nice gift is a laundry basket which is filled with baby clothes which have been put on a clothesline string. Then the Mom pulls the string up and shows the clothes. Someone else usually helps the Mom with the other side of the string so everyone can see the baby clothes on the line.

My baby shower idea is to grab a nice empty scrapbook and some textas/coloured pencils, pretty paper, glue, fabric scraps, and anything else crafty and fun and set up a small craft table at the shower where people can come along and draw what they think the new baby will look like. Ie: maybe draw dad's ears, mum's eyes, uncle's nose.

Or just a nice message for the couple. :)

I'm going to be an aunt in 5 months too, but you'll be one sooner!

It's exciting isn't it?

Congratulations!! A new baby in the family is always exciting!

For showers I like to use centerpieces/decorations that are practical and the new mommy can take home. Think of using baby toiletries or filled baby bottles to hold balloons, a big blow up ducky bath (by Munchin only $9.99 at Target) to hold ice with drinks, etc. A diaper cake or flower arrangement with rolled up onesies, etc. That way the decorations can be part of your gift. Thanks for the giveaway!

Wow, these are adorable!! Thanks for visiting my blog too :) I haven't had much experience with baby showers to be fair, but i'm a big fan of cupcakes and pretty vitage things, so i guess i would choose a vintage inspired theme, with cake teirs and lovely finger food with delicate cups of tea, and lots and lots of flowers :)

Such cute stuff. Good luck with finishing school. So exciting!

Depending on the group, you could freeze little plastic babies in ice cube trays and put one in each person's glass. When the first person's ice cube melts they say, "My water broke" and they get super fun prize because they were brave enough to say "my water broke" in front of the group.

Very generous giveaway.

I love to promote early literacy, so a book themed party is my recommendation. Encourage all the guests to bring a copy of their favorite book, either from their childhood, or that they read to their children. Have a time set aside for guests to read from their book to the group, or share a favorite story associated with it (my aunt always gives the book Love You Forever and reads it to the mother-to-be). Make games based on the names of books or familiar book characters. Have guests write down advice for the new mom and put it together into an original book for her. Gosh I love books!

what a wonderful giveaway! i would love to be the lucky winner..

we went to 2 baby showers a little while ago and there were 2 unusual ideas...one was the main table had been decorated with a plain tablecloth that guests wrote good luck messages on, some drew on it and some just signed it. the new parents were going to use it for the christening table later!

the other family had a golden decorated bucket that people dropped donations of money or just loose change into and then they donated the money to the local baby unit at the hospital. they didn't want presents(baby #4) but knew people wanted to give something.

I've been to a bunch of co-worker baby showers where the mom-to-be is already buried in clothes and toys and books for the baby from family and close friends. The theme/present I've gotten the most positive comments on is treating the mom-to-be to some adult items and services. Massage, manicure, grown-up lingerie (not necessarily tacky pornstar type, but grown-up satiny type). In 6-12 months after the baby is born, it'll do mom some good (and her partner, if in the picture) for her to remember she's not just a mom, but a woman too. Remembering that part of yourself helps make you a better mom too, I believe.

great stuff!! i actually have no idea what to do at a babyshower - as a gift i would choose something for the mom-to-be - she probably got enough stuf for the baby. Something she can use right away, like a skarf or a bandana, a bracelet or earrings. Oh, or a nice pillow!
have a great first of may!

How about a list of scrambled "baby" words and whoever can unscramble the most in say, 5 minutes, wins?
