whittle log.

I bought a wood carving set. Here's my first project:

It's ironically a log. ha ha.

Anyway, wood carving is tough, which prompted me back to sculpting with polymer clay. I'll show you my clay things that I just made, after I coat them with sealer.

P.S. For those who asked for a stamp carving tutorial, there are some great ones out there, but I'll make a special mushroommeadows one for your enjoyment. :) Also, I still have to make a photoshop one...:)

Friday Stamping.

I've already done 9 loads of laundry this week, and I still have more to do! As I wait for the loads to wash and dry, I've been busy carving stamps. The owl and mushroom were done last week, and the little elf was done today.

little orange guy.

I made this little orange guy. He's super soft.

Here's a picture of him begging the computer and Internet to work (Internet is very sporadic, but at least I have it momentarily). :)

I was tagged by Rachel. This is a very hard tag because it requires me to think. ha ha. So, I'm modifying it and I'm just going to give you five random things about me:

1. I LOVE getting my eyebrows waxed! I don't love the feeling of it, but I like how it cleans up my face (not that I have particularly hairy eyebrows). hah. :)

2. I sometimes rent cheesy movies and watch them by myself. :)

3. I am trying to cut down on my coffee/tea consumption (again).

4. I used to HATE tofu, tomatoes, and spicy food, but I am starting to like the taste of them as I've gotten older. :)

5. I can't stand the sound of scrapping metal (like a fork against a bowl...argh).

green bean!

I made a human BEAN today. And no, Summer, I do not eat human beans. :)

Sorry for the lousy pictures; I used my camera phone. ha ha.

the good, the bad, and the CUTE!

Ok, so everything in my life has been going completely "upside down" as my mom would say: broken washer, broken AC, and then the internet mysteriously vanished. :(

But things are starting to look a lot better!

1. The other day, the AC miraculously turned on!

2. After a long weekend of washer shopping, my husband and I got a new washer for a decent price (though he had to fix it when we got home, but now it works!)!

3. And even though the the internet is still down, this tragedy has proven to be more beneficial for me. No internet = More time, which equals more crafts!

After all, take a look at this mushroom head. He now has a body, but just look at this face:

shrinky dink girl.

Firstly, I wanted to let you all know that Blaze Danielle is an awesome artist. Everyone ought to check out her work! :) Plus, she's having a contest right now!!!

Anyway, I painted this little shrinky dink gal with some acrylic paint, added some sharpie details, popped her in the oven, and here's the result:

She's very little. :) Very. (Sorry for the blurry photo below! She wouldn't stop moving! j/k :))

Happy Friday!

three girls.

Michael's Craft store is really killing my budget. They put out this printable 50% coupon for this week, and there's a Michael's on my way to work, so I always feel obligated to stop by and pick something up.

Today, I had only had 5 minutes to choose something, which is not much time to peruse the store (even though I practically know where everything is and everything that they pretty much have). Anyway, I grabbed an acrylic paint set, which will fit nicely in my purse. ha ha.

Here's a piece I did:

sharpie and a bit of bordem

I have not had much luck with my stuffy making lately. :( It's partly because I have a different sewing machine, but it's also because I haven't felt very inspired (in a stuffy way).

Anyway, this is what I ended up doing during work:

Beautiful Applique Pincushion

From Sew Nancy:

Lovely Fabric and Knitted Head Scarf

From Laura Baillie Designs:

By the way, check out Laura Baillie Designs asap because she's having another give-away! This time, it's for a pair of lovely earrings!!! :)

People are so generous! It just warms my heart. :)

Anyway, this past weekend, my husband and I did another hike. I am happy to say that it was only 3.5 miles round trip! Very manageable for little ol' me (I'm not even sore!!!)! :) Plus, we got to see several waterfalls! Who knew there were waterfalls in the OC. Water makes me very happy.

Plus, take a look at this little guy:

He's so cute!!! :) I wish I could make something as cute as him. Ha ha. Have a great week!:)

heatbond

I've been playing with heatbond and scraps of fabric. Here's one of my experiments:

Also, I've been playing a lot with SHRINKY DINK! I love it, but look at what my sister did to a ring I made especially for her: CLICK HERE.

Anyway, I've been recovering from a hike I did this past weekend. I knew the hike was going to be more difficult than the 8-mile one I did before, but I didn't know it was going to a) make me want to cry b) cause me to explain to the ranger/police that I was still alive and not to send the search&rescue c.) pain me even three days afterward.

This hike was over 12-miles long, which started at 10am and ended at a little before 9pm. Approximately at 3pm, I told my husband that I wanted to go home. I really wanted to give up, but at that point, I was smack dab in the middle of the mountain. Whether we turned around to go back or we pushed forward up the mountain meant hours and hours of hiking. There was no way of getting out of it. Fatigued, hungry, and hurting, I knew there was no easy way out. Subsequently, this made me REALLY want to cry. I'm a baby-hiker, what can I say?

The fact that it was pushing 9pm with no sunlight left caused my family to panic a little bit, so that's how the ranger/police got involved. The police doing our missing person's report said to me, "You are SO grounded." Yeah!

Well, my knees are NOT happy with me. I did some pretty sloppy hiking down the mountain because I was so tired and I knew that if we didn't get down soon we were in big POOPY trouble! Without sunlight, we could plunge down the rocky slope in the dark. So, we basically tumbled down the mountain trying to get down before the sun did.

Hiking is NO joke. One slip on a ridge and you could bash your head into the rocks below. SCARY.

Appropriately called Devil's Backbone

Anyway, see you later with hopefully more heatbond projects. :)
