snaps.

I got a Singer plier kit at Wal-mart for under 8 bucks, which is quite a deal because I've seen them at Joann's and Michael's for 19.99! It contains a plier tool that sets eyelets, grommets, and snaps into fabric and a handful of the settings. After I bought it, I read the reviews on joanns.com. Consequently, I wanted to return it; the reviews were pretty bad. ;(

However, I really don't like to return things (especially at wal-mart), and I figured or rather I convinced myself that seven bucks wasn't too much for a couple moments of fun; so I experimented with it.

It really works! I'm sure if you wanted precision, it might be a bit harder to work with, but if you practice enough, it's a great tool for any crafter! Just press really hard and make sure you test it before you use it on your projects!

Here's my first project:

some weekend purchases.

This is what I got Friday afternoon:

I showed it to my husband, and he asked, "Did you make it?" Hah. How could I possibly make it??? :) Then, he asked, "What is it???"

To answer his question:

1. It is from Tuesday Morning (a bargain store, that has a lot of stuff for a pretty decent price).

2. It was 50 cents.

3. It is cute. (PERIOD)

It's a salad spinner!!! (and no, I did not make it.) :) It was only 2.98! I'm very excited to use it. You see, I used to buy those packaged salads that cost an arm and leg, but they didn't stay fresh for very long. Besides, I'm trying to be more economical, so now I am buying lettuce heads. This little invention will help me immensely!

I've been making a ton of salads lately; my husband's on a diet. ;) I'll post a recipe for a killer chicken (ahhh), ranch salad later.

apple green.

My kitchen is green, slightly darker than mr. apple below, but pretty bright in most people's eyes. It makes people say, "wow" when they first see it, but it makes me happy when I do. :) Last night, I painted some green apples to adorn the walls. I think I'm going to buy some of those wooden IKEA picture frames and put them in it.

little clown.

This afternoon, I made a clown. He can hang from doorknobs and dresser handles. I glued the rope to his hands, so he really doesn't have a choice. ;)

eye see.

I think my husband has really big eyes; sometimes I want to poke them out. Today I noticed that they are the same color as my doll's eyes!!! The flash from my camera makes his pupils smaller in the picture, but normally they are the same size as well.

jonah.

Here's a little sketch of a little guy that I really kinda admire (that's seaweed in his hair, by the way :)).

mess ups.

My personal philosophy is that an artist can turn anything into something beautiful; he/she just keeps trying, adding and manipulating, until the masterpiece is complete. Nothing is rejected; everything is adjusted. Well, forget that! :) Today, I made something nightmares are made of. It started off as a cute little bear guy, and then it evolved into a mean little gnome. I tried to redeem the dreadfulness of it all by adding a sidekick. Eek, I don't think I can do anything else to make it cute. hah :)
